Free Appraisals
Free Coin Appraisals in Honolulu
Not sure what your coins are worth? Honolulu Coin Buyers offers free, no-obligation coin appraisals for individual coins, small groups, and complete collections. You don't need to know anything about coins before you come in. That's our job.
We see it all the time: someone finds coins in a closet, inherits a collection, or discovers old gold in a drawer. They have no idea if it's worth $50 or $50,000. A free appraisal gives you the answer so you can make an informed decision about whether to sell, hold, or insure.
What We Appraise
U.S. coins (gold, silver, copper, and nickel), foreign coins, gold and silver bullion (bars and rounds), gold and silver jewelry, sterling silver flatware and holloware, paper currency, proof sets and mint sets, certified/graded coins (PCGS, NGC), and complete collections of any size.
How Our Appraisal Process Works
Schedule Your Visit
Call us at 808-215-4048 to set up an appointment at our Honolulu location. For large collections or estates, we can arrange a home visit anywhere on Oahu.
We Identify and Evaluate
Our numismatists examine each piece for type, date, mint mark, condition, and metal content. We use professional testing equipment (XRF analyzers, calibrated scales) for gold and silver items.
We Explain What You Have
We tell you what each coin or item is, what it's worth, and why. No jargon, no pressure. We answer every question you have.
You Decide What to Do
If you want to sell, we make an offer on the spot with same-day payment. If you want to think about it, no problem. The appraisal is free either way. If you want to hold onto your coins, we can advise on proper storage and handling.
Why Get Your Coins Appraised
Knowing the value of your coins matters for several reasons. If you're considering selling, an appraisal tells you what a fair offer looks like so you don't get lowballed. If you've inherited coins, you may need a value for estate tax purposes or fair distribution among heirs. If you're a collector, periodic appraisals help you understand what your collection is worth for insurance purposes.
A quick appraisal can also reveal value you didn't know existed. Coins that look common can turn out to be key dates, rare varieties, or error coins worth many times their face value. We've had sellers bring in jars of "old change" that contained individual coins worth hundreds of dollars.
